ULAN note: As an exponent of the Danube School, Altdorfer was indifferent to Italian Renaissance concerns for perspective and proportion. Instead he favored emotion and expressiveness, particularly in his depiction of landscapes and nature, which often dominates human forms in his paintings and prints.
